Photos Lifted Sport Tracs Picture Thread!

There's some good pictures showing up here! 01ST - you should do a writeup, man - that looks AMAZING! Did you follow the writeup that's for the regular explorer to do this?

Obie- Feels like a new truck, doesn't it? I loved the feeling when i first drove mine around after the BL

Breeze, I may have to copy something along those lines. Clean install, and that' a good space saver, for sure.

Thanks man! I followed the writeup for the Ex exactly but maybe I'll take some better pictures and write my own.

That it does, especially with the new poly body mount bushings. Those are so nice, they even smooth out the torsion twist quite a bit. I sit higher in this now than I do in my 4x4 F150, and it's taller too. It's 2/3rds of a full size now :D

Tube door with mud guards should probably be just fine. Even with the kind of stuff Rick does with his doors off, I haven't heard any problems resulting from it. Though there could be something buried in a thread somewhere I haven't seen.

Once you get the doors done, your next step should be getting the whole thing repainted with Line X or something :D But keep the teal, it looks nice.

That's good info to know and that group does some serious trails. It's a love-hate relationship with the teal. Sometimes it's too girly of a color but sometimes I look at it and it looks so good with the black and red accents.

Progress on the bed cover rack. I still need to secure the tool boxes, weld in the center strip of expanded metal and get some rubber feet. A total of 14 hours so far. I am looking to get into the fabrication industry so this is a nice little project to learn from.

I really like what you're doing with this rack. It'll be much easier to put stuff there instead of all the way up on the roof.

That's cool! How's it going to secure onto the bed, are you gonna tie it into the tie down points along the sides?

Well I am thinking about making loops on the underside for a ratchet tie down to run through and just use the tie down points along the side to hold it down. That way I can take it off really easy when I am not using it.

Thanks, that is the exact reason I did a bed cover rack. Plus a roof rack really cuts the mileage down. Our beds are so small that if you have more then 2 people going camping for a few days, you really need more room for stuff. Only thing that I dont like about the ST.

Besides painting the tool boxes to match the railing, its done. Got the rubber feet, which were body mounts for my grandpas 48 Chevy pickup.

Will probably add tie down points too, but for now I think the hooks on the side of the bed will due.

That looks really good man. Limits the height of your load but I would love having the extra space and toolboxes .

Yea, I know. Thats definately a drawback. I made it for camping, to haul tents, logs, chairs ect.. it basically doubles the space of the truck bed. Next is a hitch mounted rack and those steps that mount on your tires.

That is a great idea Breeze. I always take out my back seats for more room but it does not help that much and is a pain.

I like your pig on the back lol. Makes me want some bbq.

That reminds me of a heavy duty thick steel tonnaeu cover i saw on a raptor that had tie downs and such built onto it. Very nice work!

Haha. I get so many questions about the pig. People come up with the craziest theories. I like fat chicks, I am a cop, ive heard some weird things. Truth is I saw it in a trucker shop and thought it was funny.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments. I remember first finding this wevsite with my bone stock ST and thinking, man I wish I could build trucks like that. Now I am on my way lol.

Finally lifted!

Just got done with a trip through Yellowstone and finished installing aftermarket smoked fogs. Now I need a BL! Anyone know how to wire the fogs to a fog switch without the harness? We tried using the voltmeter and cant get the thing to work. :( Anyway here are some pics.

Smoked fogs look BA but they look like they are sitting way back since all you see is the reflectors. Right now they are just attached to a rocker switch which I obviously dislike if anyone has advice on attaching to stock fog switch would be much appreciated. Lovin the rides guys!

P.S. Part of the prob is that there are 4 pins on the stock fog switch and only three incoming from the fogs I have. Live power, ground, and a outward power to kick on the lights. It works flawlessly from the rocker but cant get the stock switch working and that was the whole point of the swap. I know midnight did it and wondering if anyone knows wtf I'm doin wrong (not an electrical genius lol) Thanks again guys

so far just a 3 inch body lift with 33x12.5x15 duratracs. Wanting to do a TT and shackle lift as well. any info on the ride quality after the torsion twist?

Haha, funny you should ask. I just did a review on the lifted shocks Rancho makes and it made my TT ride go from hellacious to very nice :D

Ok, maybe hellacious is overkill, plus I have leaf springs that need replacing, but it still smoothed everything out really well. I'll update the review with a couple longer term results too, especially after the shocks have had a chance to fully break in.
