That is cool personally I could never cut into my fender but if you got the skills go for it.

I'm just not a fan of using PVC on my truck. I'll eventually have one but I want it to follow the lines of the truck and look like it's supposed to be there. That's really hard to do with PVC.

Maybe I am not looking at it right I think that snorkel he posted looks like it was built by a company not just built from Lowes parts. I would like to see the under hood part though before I pass judgment.

Oh, sorry, I wasn't referring to that one in particular, just what many people use. My plan was to find an ARB or similar that is close enough and could line up nicely with a little work. The pictures aren't loading on my phone but I suspect that is exactly what I'm talking about.

I had helped a guy build a snorkel out of pvc and we took 2 paint peelers and when you heat the pvc up all the way around where you would want a gradual bend, it will bend and then quench it in a barrel of water to cool it and it will hold its shape. Helps it follow the shape of the vehicle better.

It looked really good! We roughed it up with some sand paper and dipped it in plasti-dip. We were able to make it look like it followed lines in the truck really well.

Cool DIY project. I have no use for a snorkel but someday I might and I'll have to give this a shot.

Anybody going to brigatine nj this weekend for the 4x4 beach parade ?

I'm not a Pittsburgh native. I'm just stuck living here (wife's family is from here) I'm originally from out west, Oregon, Washington and born in Yuma, Arizona.

I know this was from awhile ago, but holy crap. I was stationed out there from 05-10, and I miss it almost every day, more so after seeing all the great offroad trips on here. How long did you live there for?

I only lived in Yuma for the first year of my life then my dad was stationed out in Millington, Tn., then from place to place after that but was mostly raised in Oregon and Washington but eventually got stuck here in Pa.. I'll make it back out there someday.

So a couple new updates. Finally got my new Duratracs. Will post pics of them on the truck tomorrow.

Also started my air compressor installation. I bought a Viair compressor and got a tank free from a buddy.

I am going to mount it in the space between the bed and the rear panel. There is a lot of space up there.

Here is the compressor installed. One is from the wheel well and the other what it looks like from the bed side.

Im going to cut the air tank and weld it back together so that it fits up in the wheel well better.

I am going to cut an access panel in the truck bed and have an air chuck and the switch inside. Will post more pics as I get farther along. Hope to have it all done tomorrow, or at least by next weekend.

Looks great so far man. I'll be adding a compressor when I do my SAS, I'm looking at the dual ARB compressor that will run the air tools, the locker and air up/down the tires.

Thanks midnight. I looked at going with a bigger compressor to run air tools but they were 2 or 3 times as much. I just wanna be able to air my tires back up, maybe run a tool for a short time. The constant duty compressors are they way to go, or dual like you said.

Yea, where I go wheelin' you need to be able to do "On the trail repairs", there is no AAA or towing a rig out with another one. LOL.

So today was just a simple 1.5" TT and Warrior shackles to try and (unsuccessfully) keep the tire rub down. Still gonna need the 3" bodylift, or cut into the plastics and I'm not doing that. So the BL and new poly body bushings install will start Wednesday, and hopefully be done by Saturday. Or maybe I can just pull an all nighter, set up some flood lights, and work til it's done.

New SAS parts came in, saving up for 5.13 gears, lockers and axle shafts. I could've easily fabbed these parts up but my free time is extremely limited so I bought these. SAS Kit from Sky Fab although I'll be using a set of boomerang shackles on the front axle instead of the Sky Fab set and SOA perches from RuffSruff.
