I've had a persistent noise from my 4.0 OHV (94K miles), but it's only at idle. While driving or revving in park its inaudible.
Intermittent "clack, clack-clack" like sound...sounds exactly like 2 pool balls hitting each other lightly every couple or few seconds
I listened to the valve covers with a stethoscope and I can hear it well.
Guess I won't know much unless I pull the covers? I was also thinking worn push rods.
