Long story short, I need new lifters. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good brand, or just stick with Fords? My plan was to get some from Doug at 4.0Performance but his site says that he is too busy to keep up with with the Products section, so that was not an option. Any suggestions?

Limited X. If you can't find any info on their site, try calling them to find out if they have them for your X and for info on them. IF their not too busy to answer the phone. LOL!
Sorry! I just checked their site out and they don't even have a tel # and he also said that the servers are down and anyway he can't even get to all his E-Mails anyway!!! Hummmm! I don't think I would buy from them unless it was a last resort! Who do you call if you have a product problem?

Try Delta Camshaft of Tacoma, Washington

(800) 562-5500

You can get new lifters, pushrods, and improved rocker arms from them, and they'll give you a core refund if you send your old ones back

I got mine with them and it fixed the lifter noise....though they'll tell you that what we call "lifter tick" is usually just the rocker arms being worn, but I did both lifters and rocker arms because I was doing a performance rebuild.

Do any of you guys have your lifters only tick when you are low on oil. I love my lifter tick becuase I know that im low on oil and need to add some when they start ticking.

Thanks for the replies guys. However, I went ahead and had the stock lifters put back in. My mechanic had checked them out and he said they looked fine, and saw no reason to replace them. And the other reason is that for new lifters, I am looking at close to $500.

And I have bought new rocker arm assemblies and push rods from 4.0Performance, very great guy to deal with, and he did not charge me a core charge since I payed through Paypal. I did send the stock ones to him though, he requested me to do so and I obliged. I had also checked DeltaCam, and come to think of it, that is where my rocker arms came from. I think Doug at 4.0Perf must just have been a distributor because the return label on the box was DeltaCam. Either way, very good transaction.

Maximum, what kind of lifters did you go with?

I went with stock ford replacements...I bought them because I had no idea what condition my lifters would be in when I opened up the motor...they looked ok but since i was putting in a new cam and everything I felt better going with new replacements. I don't think they cost 500 dollars though...I think the reason was because they got cannibalized from a crate motor, so they can't technically be sold as "new" parts.

I just put a new cam, lifters and rocker arms in my Explorer. Most of the parts stores I called did not stock lifters except for Carquest, and they wanted 36 bucks EACH for them. I ended up gettting lifters from Ford for about 250.00 for the set, but I really had to twist their arm to sell em that low. Since 4.0 lifters dont exactly sell like hot cakes you might be able to talk the parts person down on price for them, since they are just taking up shelf space.

$36 each? At NAPA, I checked for some the other day and the lady told me it was $48 for a set of 12 lifters... I'm quite sure she read it wrong and they were actually $48 a piece.

Wow, 48 dollars for 12 of them? If I could of bought mine for that low of a price I would of picked up a few extra sets and tried selling them here. There's gotta be a few people here with old and noisy 4.0s that would buy them up.
