Hi
I owned a xlt 98 4 door with a liftgate hinge problem

The liftgate does not open and close properly. It can not be adjusted operate properly. The problem is that the welds on the part where the right hinge attaches is out of position. The backer plate had moved due to rear crash The metal around it crack land flexes when you open the door I had to removed the lifter to prevent more damage to the door inner shell I tried soldering the crack without any luck.

I need to know if is a repair kit that would replace the area the hinges is attached and provides the needed rigid to teh hinge area

Attached are the pics showing the misalignment of the door

Any ideas how to solve this problem besides buying anew liftgate door

Welcome to the forum! To be honest your best bet would be to bring it to a body shop for them to align the hinge and repair/replace it if needed.
