2022 Explorer XLT
The lift gate on my 2022 XLT has decided to not open or close. It will lock and unlock but the motor will not lift or close. Each time I try, it gives a a couple waring tones but no messages. Can open and close manually. Anyone know of a way to reset it?

Will have it looked at by the dealer when the parts for the rear climate controls arrive.

Silly question, is it disabled in the menu?
Should still be under warranty, so I'd go that route once confirming the the power liftgate is enabled.

When you open it manually, does it stay up or does it close? If it stays up then I would guess that it's the actuator (motor) that is bad.
As mentioned above, it should be covered by the warranty if still in effect.

pull the negative terminal of the battery for a few minutes or use Forscan to run service procedure to reset liftgate module

It stays opens when I manually open it. I noticed yesterday, sometimes it's a little easier to manually open than others. Or maybe I'm getting stronger from having to manually open it all the time..

Thank you for the suggestion. I may try the battery terminal. I have not dived into doing Forscan yet.
I'm guessing that the liftgate motor is non-functional. You can try the negative battery cable pull but I'd stay away from any FORScan use if the vehicle is still under warranty. Let the dealer handle it so they can't come back and say it was something that you did.

There was a setting I found in the touchscreen menu to disable the power liftgate. I was hoping it would disable the hands free liftgate feature, since I have big feet and it is constantly closing on my head while I am loading/unloading.

Anyways, once that option was selected, it simply disables the power motors. Pressing any of the rear liftgate open buttons (keyfob, rear liftgate, drivers control panel) all it would do was make the beeping noise and unlatch.

Looking through the Ford Service site I found this:
Switching the Power Liftgate On or Off
You can switch the power liftgate on or off through the vehicle settings on your touchscreen.
When switched off, the liftgate only unlatches and will not power open or close.

This is exactly what was happening to me, and it sounds like exactly what is happening to you. Before you visit the dealer, I would take a look in the vehicle settings on the touch screen to make sure the power liftgate feature wasn't accidentally disabled. If it is, just enable it and you should be back in business.

Update: Dealer had it overnight to try and figure out why it wasn't working. First they tried to blame it on my dashcam install (both front and rear cameras). I explained the cameras were installed two weeks after I bought it in June 2022 and the liftgate worked fine until recently. Then they thought it may have been a chaffed wire, which they could not find. I then suggested that maybe the motor is bad?

They ordered a new motor.

Hey Mark. Hopefully, they will give you a discount on the diagnostic fee if changing out the motor fixes it. ;)

This is when I find a new dealer. If a
trained tech actually tries to blame something that isn't even remotely tied together .. see ya... Don't want them working on my vehicle.

I agree. When someone looks for a reason like that to avoid doing work, they are just lazy, or incompetent.

I’ve had mine to 2 different dealers can’t fix the tailgate! Driving me nuts. 2022 king ranch. 1/2 time have to do it manually
