does anyone have any ideas on how to get some extra ground clearance for a 2002 ford explorer sport?

Bigger tires. 31x10.50's should fit stock, or 265/75/16's.
To fit bigger tires;
Body lift,
spindle lift (if 2wd),
Superlift 3.5",
RCD lift 5", or
fiberglass fenders

No problem. If you're only looking for a little bit of extra clearance, you can also get longer shackles (warrior products is the brand), and/or 4dr explorer leaf springs to get some extra height in the back.
For the front, you can adjust the torsion bars (like a spring) for a little extra height, but use caution not to raise it too much, it will cause a rough ride and extra strain on the cv joints if raised too much. Search torsion twist or TT, should find a TON of info

the 4 door leaves won't make a difference. The 01 and newer Sports came with the multi leaf pack like the 4 doors.

As Brian said, you can fit 265/75/16s as is. They are pretty close to a 32" tire depending on brand.

Search this site for "F150 rear spring upgrade". That will get you another inch or so of height and eliminate the stock spring sag.

I'm running 33 x 11.50s with just the TT and F150 leaves. There's no rubbing on the body, but a little on the front sway bar at full turn. The rear is a little lower than the front right now, so I plan to add some Warrior 1.5" lift shackles. I can't fit anything wider or taller without more lift.

If you want several inches of height to fit larger tires like 35s, do a 3" body lift and Superlift suspension lift (3.5"-4").
