ok so im starting my lifting of my truck and i dont plan on buying a lift. im doing it pretty much from scratch, im buying leaf spring mounts (ones that are longer then factory) im putting in new leaf springs (to account for the sag that it has had plus its going to have more leafs) and im switching the axle to under the leafs. im thinking that the combo nation i will get at least 4inches of lift. but im not exactly sure what to do about the front. im gonna tighten the torsion bars but that can only go about 2in (so ive read) but ive also read that you can add longer bolts, so if i add longer bolts how much lift can i get? what is the best way to lift the front end?

any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Im pretty sure there are 3 different torsion bars for the explorers and i think there number or letter identified, you could see which ones you have and step it up to the next size, morr stiffness. Not sure how much lift you'd get, it might just get stiffer. Torsion twist with aftermarket torsion keys would probably help. But i vote for SAS ;) there are also 3" lift spindles, cant remeber who makes em but ive seen em on ebay alot

Axle flip alone will get you 5.5" of lift...how much lift are you trying to get and what size tires do you want to run? Front lifts are very expensive. ..cheap way is to do tt in front(2") shackle lift rear(2") and a body lift (2or3") for 4" or 5" total lift and run 33x12.50 tires..super cheap to do and looks good!

I'm running the combo jd mentioned above and I'm happy with it.

xploder mentioned going with stiffer bars, and that will help get you the 2 inches with less turns, but you still shouldn't go above 2'' or you'll put too much stress on your CVs.

If you do the spring over axle in the rear with new springs and shackles and only a TT in the front, you're going to have a NASTY looking rake which will, quite frankly, look a bit absurd. You might have luck looking around for someone selling the front part of an old superlift 4'' kit. That would level you out a bit more.

There is one on here right now for sale... $800 used and just front lift...

Bingo! Those are hard to come by. I'd jump on that in a heartbeat if I were you Erek. I would buy it myself right now if I didn't drop $2k on the full Superlift kit in September.

Thanks you guys very helpful. And yeah I planned on adding a gradual body loft to level it out a bit. Not looking for anything over 6inches, but it sure on tires yet
