They're for "offroad use only". In other words, not street legal. I've NEVER seen them for the 3rd brake light.
If you want a new look on the rear, consider "tinting". Don't go beyond 2 coats of Nightshades or they'll be too dark. I went with one coat on my 3rd brake light and it looks sweet.
With "tinting" them I've used Ricochet on my projects. It's relativly easy to aply and not to bad to remove if need be. Best part is they give an black out look ( the smoke type ) and give very good protection. As per are they legal well probably not but been driving for 4 yrs with an set and never been bothered. It's like 1 shade darker when they are on. Just get an brighter bulb?
