I'm a new member so forgive me if i mess up!!
I have a 97'sohc 4.0 v6 Explorer.Sometime last year i was driving the car and the wipers came on by themseves i fiddled with the switch and they eventully switched off,then early on this year i had trouble with the headlights turn the headlight switch on the sidelights would work but no headlights if i fiddled with the multifunction switch flicking the switch onto main beam and onto dipped beam they would eventully come on.
Anywaythere was a new multi-function switch (indicator switch)for sale on e-bay bought the switch fitted it only to find that my headlights work but my wipers stay on.As i took the new switch off i noticed that one of the plugs had two badly burnt terminals,so i went to a scrapyard with a Northface in stripped down the binnacle chopped off the two plugs and removed the indicator switch as well.
I removed the plug which was burnt and replaced it with the one off the Northface+ the new switch connected the battery still the same wipers come on by themselves,tried the other plug still the same,tried the indicator switch off the Northface still the same but when i fit my old switch on the wipers stay off but to get the headlights to work i have to fiddle with the switch to get them working.Any ideas?
