hey guys...i have a really stupid question about some lights i just bought to install as back up lights for the rear of my con-ferr roof rack.. I am trying to find a decent place to ground out the switch wire to on the driver side of my 99' ex...the ground wire is kinda short so i am lookin for the most convenient area to mount the switch and ground the wire...also there is another ground near where u connect the wires to the actual lights...does this go to the battery or can i just ground this to anything where it would be touching metal..perhaps on a bolt in my roof rack?? any info or ideas right now would be greatly appreciated. thanks,
MIKE;)

I'd see if I could get the wire inside to ground it. Lots of places inside where you can screw it down. If not try to attach it to one of the bolts that is used to hold the roof rack down as that would be grabbing the metal of the roof real well. Since it will probably be outside make sure to seal around the connection as best you can. I'd also terminate it in a ring eye and screw through that it would make a bit stronger connection.

thanks for your input...i've had a rough time with these lights today...i think my only problem is finding a good metal/metal contact are to ground them out with..thanks for your idea on that bolt i will def. try that when the sun comes up again..i wish i could move that one for the lights inside but the wire is too short..i'll do my best to seal it well or keep it out of areas that get alot of weather

What about butt splicing on more wire? Just wrap the butt splice up and you'd be fine.
