Hey guys, does anyone run limit straps with a TT? I've noticed that when taking off at WOT I get a bad vibration which seems to get better in higher gears and if I lower the front end down to stock height. I'm thinking the front end is lifting too high and causing CV bind. I get an even worse vibration too if say I go over train tracks and the suspension lifts.

I only did a 1.5" TT in the front to be sure I was safe. I can get a solid 2" but backed it off to avoid excessive wear. I measured where my CV bind point was and it's 8" from my tire to fender. I have my front suspension sitting at 6.5" which is 1.5" over stock.

Has anyone else ever had this problem?

What shocks are you running? I know my shocks only let arms drop so far.

Rancho RS5000's in the front and the RS-9000 Adjustable's out back. The ones designed for a 2.5" lift. They're brand new not even 1000 miles on them.

But I think my problem is the arms are lifting too far up, the downward travel seems fine. I don't think it's anything shock related.

The amount of available travel didn't change with a tt. I suspect something else is the problem.

Well yes and no. With a TT I'll have more available downward travel before I hit the suspension stops, which in turn gives me less upward travel from my "ground zero" (read: the height my truck sits at on a level surface) I'll call it before I reach CV bind.

For example, at stock height my front end would have to lift 3 inches before I reach CV bind, now I'm sitting 1.5" higher and only have to lift the front end 1.5 inches before CV bind. So smacking the gas to the floor after the TT, is probably lifting my front end more than the 1.5 inches and the CV's are binding up.

I've never experienced any binding on the street in 2HI. Only ever experienced it off road in 4x4 and at full droop (if you can call it that). I have 1.5" TT.

Well my CV's aren't loose from what I can feel, but I'm wondering if they're worn and maybe exaggerating the experience. I just cant think of anything else that would cause this.

The vibration is worst in first gear, if it was a front driveshaft it would rattle the truck to pieces on the highway, if it were tires it would be the same deal. It almost seems like a bad engine vibration at higher RPM, but if I rev the engine in neutral to 4k rpm it's smooth as a babies ass. Also the fact that it's not as bad in 2nd or third at high rpm makes me think it has to do with how hard the truck pulls in first.

EDIT: Could this be transmission related? I don't think it's a tq converter problem or any t-case problem but you never know. The truck shifts very very smooth and doesn't even give me the slightest hickup shifting.
