Help! I have a 2001 Limited 5.0 V8....bought from neighbor in January (he wanted a Chevy Tahoe). Anyway, EX runs great, hauls butt, nice ride...but after its been raining the EX doesn't want to keep running after starting. It doesn't give me any problems while driving in the rain, just when its been sitting while its been raining. Seems after whatever dries out, it'll start and run without any probelms. I'm sure this has been discussed here on the forums before, but I'm new here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Found a small thread Here about stalling during rain. Tell us what you have already checked and how you determined it was good, and maybe we can point you in another direction for what to look at next.

Ok, heres an update, if anyone is still listening. My EX was having a hard time starting and stay running when I would first crank it cold. After it would finally start I had to drive with both feet until it corrected itself. I first noticed this only happened during or after it has been raing and whether the engine was hot or cold. It would idle around 400 rpm or just die.

NOW, its having a hard time staying running whether its sunshine or rain, engine hot or cold. Its only during starting, its never stalled driving at normal highway or city street speeds.

Its been doing this for about a month now, and yesterday, for the FIRST time, the check engine light came on. After the engine cooled, I cleaned the IAC and the MAF with a non-flammable fast drying electrical cleaner (neither was really all that dirty), put it all back together, replaced the air filter, disconnected the battery for a few minutes to clear the computer....nothing has changed excpet now the check engine light is not coming on. One thing I didn't clean was the PCV valve...where the heck is it located on a 2001 Limited 5.0L ????

When it finally does start, by hold one foot on the gas other on the brake, it'll run fine and idle around 400 rpm. I do not smell gas coming out of the exhaust. Its almost as if its just idled a little to low. This is driving me nuts!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.!!

I would suggest cleaning the Idle air control valve with throttle body cleaner. After doing that see if you still have the same problem while idling or any changes. Chances are its the idle air control valve. On the V6 engine the valve is located on top of the throttle body itself.

IHill58, I had already cleaned the IAC (read the post above your reply) and still not wanting to idle after starting. (sorry I took so long to read your post, I was gone on vacation)
