Everybody has been a great help to me so far in my quest to add a mono amp replacing the stock amp and I'm down to my last question.

I bought the PAC Trunk-LOC so I could replace the factory sub amp in my '99. My plan was to use the wiring running from the head unit to the sub which would save me putting anything behind the dash. My question is how I should go about wiring it up. Here are the instructions:

http://www.pac-audio.com/instructions/TRUNK-LOC.pdf

Two things I'm worried about. First it tells me to connect to the right rear speaker and the left rear speaker and has four wires to do so. Can I put both the positive's together and connect them to the one positive wire running from the head unit to the sub? Same for the negatives? This would allow me to connect everything in the back but I don't want it to mess anything up.

Secondly, it says to connect to full range speakers, not high passed speakers, will I be ok connecting to the sub wires or should I connect to the speakers wires. If I have to connect to the speaker wires, that solves my first question. However, since the head unit doesn't send low range sounds to those speakers it wouldn't make sense and may sound like crap.

I hope some of you made it this far. If I can go with the first option it would be great. Thanks everybody!

I was actually wondering kinda the same thing, my plan was to use the 4ch amp that I have for the 4 door's speakers, and use the sub out to power a mono amp for my sub, thinking that mono meant only needing 1 rca, but it turns out that the mono amps have both L&R.
I then ran out of money and didn't buy the 2nd amp, but I'd still like to know in case I ever have money while I own this truck haha

Yeah, I hope somebody chimes in so I can get this hooked up. Otherwise I guess I'll start trying things out and hope I don't mess it up.

Not sure if this helps...

I used a PAC OEM-2 to add an aftermarket amp and sub for my Budget Bass project.

http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/127/127OEM2.PDF

In mine, I had no sub to begin with. My OEM headunit cuts bass at higher volume levels. I tapped right after the OEM front/rear amp for signal. So, I wonder if you use the OEM sub signal as a source, if it would not cut bass like mine does...?

But the stock sub harnes only has 4 wires, remote, power, and + & -, the hi-lo converter has 4 wires, to make 2 rca outs that would go to the aftermarket mono amp, so, in order to use the sub out does he need to hook both +'s from the converter to the one + of the sub and do the same for the -'s?
I think that was one of his questions, and mine too
or does he only use for instance right and hook only 1 rca to the amp
or does he not use the sub out and hook the converter to the rear speaker out....

So many "or's" hehehe

Hook the "+" and the "-" of the sub line, to 1 side of the coverter. This will give you 1 rca to work with. Alot of amps will have a switch for 1 rca or 2. If your amp needs 2 rca inputs. Then all you have to do is buy a rca "y" (spliter). Do NOT hook up to the rear speaker lines, because the head unit will reducer the bass at higher volumes. Not all head units do this, but the my Premium does, as well as the Mach (I think)

Cool! good to know
