Hello All,

I thought I would share my 2 cents worth in hopes of saving some people some time.

I just bought my second explorer (yeah), it is an LTD. I decided that I wanted to keep my factory HU due to the rear controls, etc. I was goign to and add my subs to get a bit more bass. I went and bought a LOC and it really sucks. After hooking it up I was terribly disapointed. I will try returning the LOC today to get my money back but I cannot get my time back.

If you are after a decent sounding thump then this is NOT the way to go. Seriously consider replacing the HU, which I did in my first exporer and I had killer bass!

If you have done this sucessfully please let me know, I am curious if anyone can get decent sound from a LOC on the Explorers. I did this once with my Ponitiac Bonneville SSEi and it worked out quite well. Not sure why it was so crappy this time in the ford. I think it has got to do with the deck or amp, as it seem to have a bass cut off or roll off to protect the speakers....

Good luck!

95 LTD Factory HU replacement (antenna / rear controls)

Hello All,

I am now considering replacing the factory deck in my 95 LTD. I have three main questions to ask.

1) What do I do about my anntena. From what I can tell my antenna connects to the amp in the back pass, panel. Besides being a pain in the ass to get at, how do I get that wire all the way up to my new HU? Surely someone has done this before and can give some advice or direct me to a thread with this info.

2) Are there any tricks, adapters, work arounds that will allow the rear controls to ###tion with a aftermarket head unit? This is the age of technology surely there is something.

3) Is there a way to add audio input to my factory or aftermarket system? I know I could try an FM modulator but again I am faced with the challenge of rerouting the antenna cable.

Any help or advice woudl be greatly appreciated!!!

BTW, I love this site almost as much as I love my Explorers. I think it is great, keep up the good work!
