Little help please...

I have a 2002 4x4 Explorer. Here is an odd question and I am sure some will give some crap about it. Here goes... Having nosies from the front, seems like its from the diff, can I remove the front drive shaft and the half shafts? Basicly can I make it 2 wheel drive without causeing problems? Thanks for any help or advice.

By the way, I cant spend any money on it right now and firgure I could get some better gas milage maybe.

I think you can remove the front shaft.
Maybe someone else will chime in about wheteher the "brown wire" mod is needed-
Do you have a v8 or v6 engine?
