Hi all. I recently installed a set of Mazda truck alloys on my X. They are 15x7 with 235x75 tires, and have a load rating of 1500 lbs. Does anyone know the load rating of stock Explorer alloy rims? I'm thinking the Mazda's 1500 lb rating may be marginal on my 2-dr Sport.....???

You're fine

1500 lbs per wheel is 3000lbs per axle, 6000lbs per vehicle and the Navajo is maybe 5000 overloaded-

Plus the rating is conservative and has some kind of saftey factor built in- probably close to 100% I would guess.

Never heard of anyone having wheel problems with the alloys on the Navajo. My Stock Navajo alloy wheels have the 1500lb rating cast into them, and are most likely the same as used on the trucks in the same year(s).

Thanks for the info Steve. My wheels are off a 2000 Mazda pick-up, and it's good to know that the load rating was also 1500# on the Navajo. Now that I think about it, the load rating shouldn't be less on a pick-up than an SUV, because of the load that the pick-up is rated to carry.....they probably gross out about the same. Thanks again.
