Im trying to figure out the location of the Navigation Antenna om ,y 06 Mountainner. Im also looking to install the SIGMA antenna for a SIRIUS aftermarket installation. These are the units that come with new Nissans and are totally inside the car and mounted behind the rear view mirror. My concern is the nav unit is housed in the box that is part of the rear view mirror assembly.

I have the box behind the mirror and I don't have nav. I thought that box might be the compass?

The antenna is under behind the speedometer under the top of the dash. No line of site needed. It goes through the dash to the antenna of the NAV.

Just to be clear - on the 2006 Exp/Mountaineer - you are saying the NAV antenna is in the dash behind the Speedo - and NOT integrated into the Sirius Antenna I have on my roof? I'm having problems with my sirus and was thinking about ordering a new antenna and swapping.. but was hesitant because I thought it might be integrated into the NAV antenna..

after 09 I belive they integrated the Sirrus and the nav attenna in one. The box behind the mirror is the compass. In newer models they have it inside the mirror.

Just to confirm . . . the GPS antenna is separate from the SAT antenna and is in the dash (mine's in the void above the radio), the box behind the mirror is the compass.

it's one of those 2 areas. I think most have it above the radio and for that year they are seperate. It's easy to tell when you pull the stereo out. because if you follow the 2 antenna wires back they goto a splitter about 4 inches or so back if it is one antenna. They did'nt switch to this until 08'-09' depending on the type of Ford, Lincoln or Murc.

OK..another question..How do I remove the roof mounted antenna? At first glance there are no visible mounting screws from the outside? Do I have to pull down the roof liner and unscrew from the inside? Or is it attached using some type of adhesive?

You have to pull down the roof liner. I have not done it but I hear it is really easy.
