ok, got the ez locker installed today...thing is, driving it back home from the shop, it starts to pop...and it continues, basically every 3-5 seconds...really bad popping, it pulls the car. happens at any speed...im not jamming the gas or being rough with it, just going straight with minimal gas, it goes wild...any thoughts as to what it is?

Are your rear tires the same size? Is one worn and the other new? A difference in tire size will cause the locker to pop and release constantly.

Either that or something was done wrong in the installation.

On edit...I see you have 4.10's. Did the shop grind the cross pin down to get it in, or did they grind the rear of one of the gears. If they ground the pin, that may be the problem. It's not unheard of for lockers with the cross pin ground to have problems.

tires are same size and worn equally...im not sure if they ground anything down. i will have to talk to them tomorrow because it is basically undriveable at this point. thanks for the comment though, i will ask them about it.

When I installed my Aussie locker, which is very similar to an EZ locker, there were a couple of tolerances to check in order for the locker to operate correctly. You may want to ask the shop who did the work about this.

the shop may have forgot a spring that holds the pins in. My buddy did that in his CJ7 and the rear gernaded

yeah, took it back to them today and they took a look at it and drove it around...guess there is some sort of defect with the unit...anyways, they said they have had customers have problems with that locker before and they wont even sell it now...im sending it back and getting a powertrax no-slip...thanks for the input though...appreciate it.:salute:

How' you make out? they get ya goin again?

eh, unit is coming out on tuesday and being sent back...hopefully i will get a full refund...should since it is a defective product...ill let you know how the powertrax thing goes...right now the rig just sits cause it is undrivable...that's ok cause i go blasting to work in my frineds moded wrx...turbo power...ill report back on how the powertrax performs...

Not sure what they get for powertrax units these days but Aussie Lockers go for $230 plus they have a 2 yr. warranty...pretty good bang for the buck.

I've run mine for a few off road runs now and it's performed flawlessly so far.
Here's their website:http://www.offroadlockers.com/

wen i do any thing where stock parts can still be used for emergency purposes i hold on the old parts...(i.e bolts, belts, hoses,SPIDER GEARS)

yeah, i got all the old stuff just in case i want to swap them back and make it open once again...the power trax went in and it is sick...i can hardly notice it on the street, but when it comes to the dirt, that thing tears it up...just went for a test run after it was put in on some local dirt hills we have here...climbed up stuff with no problem that i couldnt make before...it's also pretty cool to lift a tire a foot or so in the air, get out and look at it, and then just get in and motor away..im happy now, but will be even happier when i get my refund for the ez locker:D

not on an explorer, but I had the same issues with my power trax, I got a month or too. but the teeth had worn down to the point they were rounding off, once i was on the throttle they would slip and pop loud and extremely bad fore the truck. I went to an aggresive LSD after that.
