I can answer that one. YES. My only suggestion: Get a hidden/tube style hitch if you're going to do a body lift! The square tube ones look absolutely FUGLY with a body lift because they hang down a rediculous huge amount.
Soon my friend, soon. Actually, me and my Dad are building a Carport type thing to house my truck and Jetski. It's where my truck will be on jackstands while we do the lift, so that I'm not taking up the garage space. So, after it's done, the carnage begins, which should be in about 2 weeks.
How bad was it putting the aals in the rear leaves? I've got a set of aals and spacers for mine I'm going to be putting when I get outta school here in a month and a half. The front end looks pretty easy but do you have any tips for putting the aals in?
Also, what gears did your explorer come with and how were they with the 31s? I've got 3.27s and they're bad enough with stock tires. I'm wondering if I'm going to be able to stand driving it with 31s on the 3.27s...
When my dad and I installed the lift, we had planned on the front being the hard part, but it was actually the easier part. The coils went in quickly and I assume the spacers would too. The AAL's were more difficult because of the middle pin through the leaves. The only grinder we had was a bench grinder, so the leaves had to be pulled and then using the bench grinder, we grinded off the pins. After that it was much easier.
I too have the 3.27s (I hate them), but I hardly even noticed a power loss moving to 31s. The biggest difference with the new 31s was that it took a little longer to stop. To solve the problem of the 3.27s, I will be putting in 4.88s in my new axles this summer.
