Been driving my 99 xlt for a long time. ready for a new one.

today i drove a 2006 v8 4x4 limited with 92,x.. miles on it, everything was in great shape other than a few small spots where rust was starting which looked like could be managed and the left set in the third row did not opperate properly.

they are asking 11,370 for it.

seems worth it to me, how do you guys feel?

Do you have a link to check it out? I guess it would be easier to tell then

I think I paid $10,250 for my 2006 Eddie Bauer last September. It had 86,000 miles. Limited models have all the goodies though, which could account for the additional $1000. I would ask the seller if and when the radiator, wheel bearings, spark plugs, and exhaust manifold gasket had been replaced. Those are all the normal pain in the ass items for this model.

The rust would cause me some concern, make sure it's only surface.

The third seat motors go bad as well. about $300 if you do it yourself. I have 146k on mine 06 V8 eddie Bauer. It starts showing the miles, noises, vibrations but still the most reliable vehicle I have had so far. My 99 Tahoe (my favourite one) at 90k miles I could not keep up with all the issues.

it has had the radiator replaced, the shifter, the brakes were replaced then the vehicle showed it had been driven about 300 miles while in the ownership of the dealer and then the brakes were inspected again. it appears to have been in an accident, or atleast it has had both bumpers painted. maybe it just had been scuffed up. it was a commercial vehicle at the start of its life, then auctioned off and then sold to an invividual in PA. Both times it was sold it sat on the lot for a good 5 months. Right now it has been at this dealer since may. put up for sale twice now, and seems to have been inspected a number of times.

it ran great, drove great, brakes seemed just fine. everything seemed great. i am just wondering if its history means it had the **** it needed done and its good to go, of it it means it was run for all it was worth and took a lot of abuse and i should expect to pay the price on that for years to come.

i am going to keep looking. i have found that these come with quad captains chairs! i want one with that option. so sweet!

also it looks like my 99 is not worth much so i feel like i might as well keep driving it for a while, be patient, and find a new one that is exactly what i want.

Also, try looking for 08-10. Better head design (re: sparkplugs). Also, they have better door handle design inside. the grab handles in mine are so poorly placed, they drive me nuts.

Did they change the handle design in the 08's? That handle design in the '06 was designed by an idiot! I wonder if you can switch door panels out?

good luck with that. I bought my 2008 in March of 2011, and my 2010 in August 2012, so I've looked at a million Explorers. I think I've seen 2 that had that option

there is one here in town for sale for 10k, nice limited. only problem is it's purple :thumbdwn:

found one. black on black limited, quad captains. only thing i wish i could change is it has the rear intertaiment thing and not a sunroof.

asking $13,000. 2006 v8 4x4 limited, i would like to offer them 12,000 out the door. thoughts?

Mileage?

It has 124,x.. on it. I bought it. 12,000 out the door. It was owned by a local company who buys all their cars from this dealer, maintained perfectly, and in perfect condition. it was bought there, serviced there, and traded in there for a new explorer which i would like to think is a good sign. no rust anywhere, everything works and it looks great so I couldnt pass it up.

Now I need to figure out what to do with my old truck. My brother will be driving in 3 years, but i dont know if i want to leave it sitting in the garage for that long. might just sell it.

Bought my 06 eb 4.0 a few weeks ago for $10600 with 93200k on her... put about 2500 miles on her already so far love the truck... so much better than the pos dodge I had before

Agreed, these are very nice vehicles! The handling is what blows my mind. Compared to my 99 this thing drives like a sports car.

I have found that it needs new exhaust manifold studs, or maybe the manifold itself(it leaks for about 30 seconds on startup), and it has one blown speaker. Other than that it is like new and I am more than happy with my purchase!

Congrats on the new vehicle! If you want some new speakers, I would suggest these. They're an absolute steal.

I got them to replace my Polk DB571s (which are good as well, but one of them developed a rattle after 2 years) in the front and I like them a lot.
