Looking at a new build

New here and fairly new to the explorer game. I've owned jeeps and ford pickups mostly, but am looking to start a build on a gen 1 explorer I recieved from my grandfather. Just trying to see what options and suggestions you all have for a good trail rig that will also serve as a daily driver to work and back. Thanks, good to be here!

welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!! for these, personally id reccomend a spacer lift iirc for the 1g (have a 2g) and a shackle and or OME lift in the rear, and 31s and a linchbox locker/good limited slip. that will get you really far imo. outside of tjat, spend ya dimes on gear like bumpers and maintainence above 31 you may find you need to regear, so all depends how far you want to go. 31s on this 2g at least is a very DD able combo. high enough to stand out, not too high where its cumbersome!

Welcome to the forum. I'd start with a 302 and manual transmission.
