I live in Western Canada, (Calgary) and am looking for a replacement 3.73 L/S rear diff for my 2003 Explorer Limited. I have almost 170K on this one, and even with a new fluid change, I think it's getting close to the point of no return. Any suggestions on where to get a good rebuilt or replacement unit in Canada?

Thanks in advance for your help...this forum has saved me many many $$$ over the years.

Assuming you are referring to only the rear axle center-section, containing the gearing, and not the associated axles and hardware, is there some reason why you do not consider rebuilding the existing unit?

Unless a catastrophic failure, such as gear teeth being broken off, which frequently cracks the entire gear case open (enormous forces generated by pieces of metal trying to pass between mating gear teeth, you know), there is little reason to not rebuild using new bearings throughout, and probable re-use of the old gearset, depending upon the appearance of the teeth themselves. imp

Yeah... first post... I've been just been letting all the wisdom and experience on this forum sink in! There are some great posters here and all us "watchers" (and there are lots of us) thank all of you for your efforts in helping us figure out these vehicles that we love. Once I'm over this rear end issue, I will gladly share what I have learned!!

Shipping to Canada may kill you, or I'd offer one of the ones we have on sale.
