Was given a 2004 Explorer. Trying to replace cruddy hoses to ensure I’m set before they create a different problem for me.

Thanks!

Some hoses you can find looking under fuel/emissions, others you simply have to take off and measure.

Where does the other end of the hose go? At first I was thinking it's an EVAP hose to the purge valve, but have reconsidered that, am not comfortable assuming that till I know where the other end goes, so until then, ignore the rest of this post. :)

You didn't mention which engine you have, but linked below is a diagram for the 4.0L and on it, that would be hose #14 or 15. Best guess is #15 but due to their terrible drawing, I can't be 100% certain. Either way those are discontinued. You might find new old stock somewhere but otherwise, may have to replace it with bulk, fuel vapor rated hose.

If you instead have the V8 engine, enter that on their site ("Change Vehicle") then look under emissions components "IF" that is the hose to the EVAP purge valve, though I imagine that hose for a V8 '04 is also discontinued. I could be wrong.

Unless it's a coolant hose, you will have to take it off & take it to a parts store to size it up.
