I have a 2wd,V8, '00 XLT that has a sagging rear end. It is equipped with the factory towing package; I have never used it for towing. I am looking for solutions that will level the rear end with the front end or better yet raise it a little higher than the front end. Suggestions anyone?

Does your Ex have auto leveling dampers? Mine used to have that and would level the rear end when a load was placed on it. If you do, then you may have a problem with it. If you don't I would suggest a new set of aftermarket springs. They generally are of better quality than standard. Alternatively a spring over axle conversion. This might make the rear too high depending on the amount of sag. I think this raises the rear 4", I can't remember exactly.

Outside of purchasing new leaf springs, your best bet is to install some add-a-leafs to the rear leaf packs.

add a leafs will restore some of the sag... shackles will also raise it but wont correct the sag problem...

I do not have auto leveling. I noticed in your vehicle profile that your have 40mm TJM springs; what did that do for you?

It basically lifted the rear 40mm, which is just shy of 2". With the auto levelling suspension, the springs couldn't cope with the weight and thus would raise it using the shocks. It solely relyed on the shocks to help out. With my TJM springs, they are just a better made spring all round. They helped raised the car and only drop maybe half an inch when fully loaded. There is a trade off though with having these springs. They are slightly rougher than stock, but by having Rancho shocks, this has helped to compensate. When fully loaded though, it makes for a wonderful smooth ride

I know this is a little late and I am new. You may want to consider installing the Air Lift air bags. My rear springs were ok until I loaded down the X for travel. I would just add a few pounds of air and everything would be normal. They also don`t affect the ride.
