Well, it's time to start the modifications to my X, and thought I'd start with a good set of 31 x 10.5's. Anybody got recomendations on a good kind, or a place that I can get a good deal? Thanks

Update

oh yeah, I decided to start with this size because I heard you can fit them on without any lift (I'm saving that for later).

I love my BFGoodrich All-Terrains. They're a great all around tire. Not only are they better offroad than most tires, but they're better onroad too. Better wet and dry traction than my old Goodyear RT/S or my ex-g/f's Michelin LTX's.

A word of caution: They may not fit perfectly with no lift, they may rub a little bit but not much. I put on a 2" lift to fit 31's. Also, your speedo and odo will be off some. Good luck!

I am running BIG O XT's. They are a little pricey, but they have excellent warranty, free flat repair, rotation and ballance. As far as performance, they are awesome both on and off-road, but they are a little noisy.

I have a set of BFG All Terains 30x9.5x15 on my '97 Mountaineer. I'm afraid if I had went with 31's they would have rubed.

I've got the BFG AT's right now. They're a little noisy but it doesn't bother me a bit. They are great in most every terrain except mud, and of course, they suck horribly in the mud. But that's to be expected. They're also really tough. I've plucked so many nails out of the tread that would have otherwise pierced through the tire.

Pirelli-freak again

I'm sure the regulars around here are sick of my Pirelli cheerleading, but here goes again.

I lived for 5 years in Colorado (just moved back to Texas). In that time I wore out a set of Pirelli Scorpion ATs. They never let me down. In fact, I give those tires much of the credit for all the idiot things my stock truck was able to do (including Red Cone!). Snow, ice, water, rocks, dirt, and pavement. Nothing seemed to stop them. The only times I ever got stuck with those tires was when the idiot driver managed to high-center. I'm not too confident in the mud. They don't seem to clean themselves very well, but I never got stuck in the mud either, what little mud I was in.

The next time I live in a snowy climate (Oh God, hear my plea!) my truck with have a fresh set of Scorpions within the week.

They run about $100/tire for stock sizes, probably more for 31x10.5. I think they do wear a bit faster than other tires because the compound is softer (for better grip). So price per mile they are probably comparable to higher end brands like BFG.

bfg ats stink for anything but sand, bottom line. they have no flow pattern and clump up. all your rednecks get them because they like the name. the will last 50k and are graet on sand, and i love the way they move on concrete and gravel. i would reccomend them for all those crv's and rav4's that don't see mud. get cheap mt's, the cheapiest that i found and bought where regul 31" mt's thay were $83 a tire and will last 25k. your welcome

evanbugay, if I ran your cheap $83 mt's I would have to replace them every 1 1/2 years seems pretty expensive to me. The Bfg AT's will do alot better in the snow than a mud tire. YOu ARE WELCOME:shoot:

My BFG KO's are better than the uniroyal tiger paw street tires on my mom's explorer in the rain.

Also, they seem to do very well on the rocks if you ask me.....

Although I do admit they seriously lack in muddding ability.

I took my BFG A/T's off with less than 4000 miles on them for a set of Swampers. I just don't like the BFG's. They did good in sand but with the mud I like to go through they didn't cut it.
