2002 Ford Explorer XLT
Hi, OK looking to do a service on my 02' XLT. i want to do as much as i can, just bought the car about 6 months ago and haven't done much with it yet. I want to change the plugs, change the fluids, filters, pcv, and possibly get an pcm upgrade. I'm also looking to do suspension work but i cant seam to figure out if it was struts or shock because I'm seeing different posts everywhere and i haven't had the time to get underneath it to look. I'm looking for some in site on the topic, direction where to start, suggestions, and/or if I'm missing something i should do let me know or point me to the right place. I'm pretty good with my hands and have knowledge about cars but new to this 4x4, SUV, explorer thing. thanks in advance.

Without any specific symptoms, then plugs, filters, fluids, pcv replacements are probably the way to go. Also you could clean maf sensor, IAC, and throttle body.

How many miles? Are you aware of the service history?

I'm not sure about the prior maintenance schedule was all i know was there was a Valvoline sticker on the windshield and the date said next service was due 2 months before i bought it. It seems to be driving fine with a little hesitation at times swaying a little, a little squeak on some bumps like a shocks out, no lights on, it has 149,000 mostly highway miles, i mean its in great shape other than that especially for what i got it for, just trying to make it last.
