Hey everyone,
I was replacing my license plate lights with LEDs (Headlight Experts 168 LED Light Set), and noticed heavy corrosion on the receptacles. I attempted to use the LEDs with the corrosion on the receptacles after tapping out a majority of the corrosion, and was able to get the LEDs to light at certain positions, but once I put them in the housing and screwed back into place, the lights would lose their position and didn't make a proper connection. I then took them out and rather than using dielectric grease and corrosion cleaner like a smart person would, I opted for the faster route of trying to knock off the corrosion with a mix of baking soda and water and scraping away with a metal tool, which shorted out something. won't do that again lol.
I figured something was wrong when I went to test power to the new LEDs and the continuous chime that plays when my low beams are selected stopped while the key was out of the ignition. I am still able to start the vehicle normally and have power to my low beams but no fog lights (I have to wait for an assistant to see if the brakes/reverse lights are functioning as well.) After trying the old bulbs (didn't work) I started testing different fuses but am at an impasse now. I am aware I need to pull the selector for turning on the fog lights as well.
Where can I find the fuse or relay that powers these lights? What do I need to look for on the diagrams? I have the owners manual and can see some fuses that stand out but I must be missing a specific detail. I am able to test for power but don't have any diagnostic tools outside of an OBDII scanner and test light.
I will update the thread as I get more information and can provide photos if needed. this is also my first post so let me know if I need to supply more information or photos.
