Hey all, I have read through many threads in the lighting section. I have upgraded my headlight lenses to the diamond clear style and been through many different halogen bulbs, unhappy with the output. I have seen on here countless times how people believe HIDs are not the way to go without a projector retrofit. I read where upgrading to HIDs is not necessarily the better option and how people who resort to HID lighting have no idea about lighting. All I know about lighting is what I have observed: there seem to be no 9007 halogen bulbs that are bright enough (especially in inclement weather) and HIDs seem to be very bright. Now I agree, some people get some obnoxiously bright HIDs that are way overkill(and are likely not aimed properly), yet they are very bright and I am looking into the lowest color rating out there to be able to see better, but don't want to blind other drivers. I would appreciate some schooling on what direction to go next to light up the night in a respectful way to other drivers and making it safer for me by being able to see better also. Thanks for any advice in advance fellas.

You're going to get people who hate them, and people who use them.
There's someone on here who will tell you against them with a 5 paragraph essay very soon. He knows who he is. :)

Personally, I think if you try them out, aim them properly, and check that they don't blind people, they won't.
Lately I've noticed tons of people with HIDs in reflector housings and they aren't blinding in any way. In fact, they looked really good and worked great.
There's someone on the forum with the same headlights as you running HIDs, he loves them, and it doesn't blind others.
Honestly, it's a $30 gamble. I say, go for it.

I had the DDM HID kit in my escape for a year or two, and I loved them. Only problem was, about half the time one of the bulbs wouldn't come on at all. I tried swapping the bulbs from one side to the other, but couldn't find any consistency with which one would decide to not work, it just occasionally wouldn't work, so I went with some "high end" Sylvania silverstar's or something like that (they were like $20/bulb or something like that) and the difference was like night and day... like, sometimes I wondered if the new bulbs were even on or not. HID was that impressive. I wish I could find a better kit because I'd go back to it... but couldn't deal with one bulb being out all the time. Wasn't worth the risk of getting pulled over.

Just an update on my lighting issue. I bought a set of KC hilites driving lights for Christmas. What a difference they make! I still see a need for new headlight bulbs so I think my next move is to buy a set of the phillips xtreme vision bulbs when I get the time. Anyone know where to find them other than online? Thanks for all the advise thus far guys, I really appreciate it
