Hey guys, I recently put on some new 33inch shoes on my explorer. Goodyear Wrangler MTR.
I was thinking about getting some engine mods for the truck. I have a 1997 XLT 4.0 SOHC V6. Now i know the 4.6 and 5.0 are more powerful. Although i do not have money for a new engine right now. I was thinking about modding my current engine. So i can get some more power and efficiency out of it.
First i was thinking of the SCT x3 3000 tune http://www.summitracing.com/parts/scl-3000/overview/year/1997/make/ford/model/explorer
my friend just got it for his focus. He said he loves it and wants me to get one. I am not sure about these, so i was wondering if anyone had any experience or know of anything better.
I was also thinking of a new exhaust and some new headers. Is that a good idea? I am going to be going off road with this rig, so i want it to have good power. (I need gearing)
Also have a question about some shocks.
One friend swears by the bilstein 5100 shocks for my rear, but he doesn't know what i should use for the front. Neither do i.
Or do i get the 4600?
Another friend says fox or king. I say no.
So if anyone knows shocks please give me a hand here.
I have a lot of interest in all of this, and a lot of questions. If anyone can give some info it would greatly help!
