Ok, I need some help. My dad and I are going to work on my truck tomorrow night cause I will be coming home from school for the weekend. I have a 99 Limited SOHC. I have the 5r55e transmisson. About two weeks ago I took my truck in cause it was clunking when I would shift from drive to reverse, you know like when you are doing a Y turn or something.I still had ESP coverage when i took it, now its expired.
So now my truck is doing it it again. The dealship rebuilt the transmission cause they were convinced it was coming from the transmission. SO i have almost ruled out the transmission as the sorce of this clunk. Is it possilbe that this could be the ujoints or something taking up the extra slack in the driveline? I was thinking that since they had the whole driveline taken apart a couple of weeks ago that when they put it back together everything was tight and the noise was gone when they had it, so they thought they fixed. Now after a couple of weeks of daily city driving it has loosened back up making the clunk come back? I really have no idea... My warranty is up so I have to fix it myself now. But if it is the transmission I can just take it back cause their shop warranty should cover it. Thanks in advance for any help!
