After a 10 hour drive, my explorer is now emitting a deep, sinister sounding roar which reverberates around the cabin. It is loud from 0 to 55 mph, and then it gets quieter at 60 mph. Louder at 65 mph. Louder at higher RPMS. What is it?

WHY NOT TO USE MUFFLER REPAIR TAPE: (before)

The epoxy-based muffler repair cloth exploded when I drove my car on the highway. The stuff is GARBAGE!

$3.50 per set, x5 sets down the drain.

USING AN ALUMINUM SHEET, JB WELD AND STEEL WIRE INSTEAD:

Or, do this. This seems like it will hold up really well, I've taken a metal plate, then pretty much covered the thing in epoxy around where the holes are. I used JB WELD. It's good (says the box) up to 600 degrees. Then tie tightly with steel wire.

Does the noise match the RPM of the engine or does it seem to follow the tires or driveline?

Is it a constant pitch & volume or does it get louder as you gain speed?

Does the truck vibrate along with the noise or is it just noisy?

check your differental and also check for loose stuff underneith.

It's a deep roar that gets louder at higher RPS regaurdless of whether the wheels are moving. Turns out I cracked the muffler somehow. Sorry about not responding quickly guys, my internet doesnt work very well.

Good going. :)

Autozone + $20 Cherry Bomb muffler = Win!
