It started like a week ago. It is a loud squeak coming from under the front of the X. It happens anytime the Explorer moves, very annoying when driving with windows down. It also squeaks when in park, and when i turnt he steering wheel. I was thinking it may be the poly bushings on the front swaybar, but i really have no clue. I am gunna look under ther tomorrorw, but i was wondering if anyone may have a slight idea or maybe some places i should check out while i am under there.

From all my experiences with poly bushings on my Mustang...I would agree with you that your poly sway bar bushings are suspect.
If they get the least bit dried out...squeak city!!!
I know that the only lasting solution is to use that special poly grease. Man, I bought a tube of that stuff from Summit and it lasted a long time...also expensive for the tube. That stuff is tougher to smear/cleanup that tree sap. It works though. You probably already know, but any regular grease won't help for more than 10 minutes! I would lay under there and have someone rock the X and listen good...but I bet it's those poly bushings. Sorry not much more help than that.

Now...if I can only solve that darn ticking sound coming from my left front fender area...DRIVING me crazy.

Bottomless, maybe your EGR valve is causing the ticking?

I have the same problem on my '95. I changed my swaybar bushings already...no luck. I had my wife bounce the X while I was under it and I think it's my tierods. I grabbed them while it was bouncing and I could feel it in the tierod. I tried injecting grease with a needle but that only helped a little. I am replacing my rods this weekend...we'll see. Good Luck

Jason25,
Thanks for the hint. Is the EGR 'ticking' thing a normal problem on these Explorers? I had not heard of an EGR tick before. Of course my only experience (a lot) is from Mustangs. Anything I can do to check out the EGR?
I appreciate the info.
Ken

Bottomless, it's tough to say. But if you search for "egr ticking" I'm sure you 'll come up with something, because I have read others complain about the same thing.
Any other questions, just shoot me a PM.

I just got through my own EGR troubles... ended up replacing the whole tube because it ripped itself open one day at WOT... was still drivable, but made a HUGE ticking noise and a hissing at idle. Before that happened, I had a ticking noise that was pretty loud when the engine was cold, especially in the mornings when it hadn't been driven in a while. I found out through reading (a lot of) threads that a small, pinprick hole in the EGR tube creates the noise. All in all, I was happy to have a week or two without odd noises...

Now, it seems, I have a creeking noise whenever I drive over rolling bumps that makes the car roll and buck... I can't replicate it when the car is sitting still, so I have no idea. I thought I fixed it for good last year, but to no avail :-/
