2000 XLT V8
I'm currently having an issue with a high pitch squeel coming from under the hood. I have changed the belt and it still makes the high pitch noise. I just recently went over 100,000 miles. My 2000 Ford Explorer XLT has a V8 engine...I can't find any serious vibrations coming from any of the points where pullys are located on the engine. I know the bearings are all internal so it's difficult to pinpoint the culprit...which one of these usually goes first? or is this even a pully making the sound? It usually makes the noise right after cranking but stops after about 15 minutes of running...please help I live in Mississippi and I'm about to move to Tampa FL I can't afford to end up on the side of the road. Thanks

sounds like there isn't enough tension on the belt, tensioner problems, if your v8 is like mine its spring loaded and the spring is shot.
hey another Ford as a last name?

When I had that problem what worked was to remove the belt and rotate all of the pulleys by hand, and sure enough one didn't rotate freely. They should feel smooth, not crunchy or stiff or too loose (bearings often spin the easiest right before they blow up).
