i have a 97 awd 5.0 explorer and i only when my truck is warmed up i have a ticking sound and it sounds like its coming from the passenger side wut is causing this is it maybe my exhaust or headers???
it happens when i hit the gas whether in neutral or in drive
and it gets louder as i push the pedal down

could be those, or could be a valve noise from inside the engine

what kind of tick? rythmic? or otherwise? what about tis sound? is it constant? onl on acceleration or deceleration?

Seach this forum and you'll see many references to that problem. It's either the passenger-side header that's sprung a leak, or it's that EGR tube that connects to the top of the passenger-side header (maybe both). I've got the same problem, and am preparing to replace the factory "headers" with a set of Ford Racing Parts headers, a new EGR tube and a set of Percy's "Dead Soft" aluminum header gaskets. That oughta silence the tick-tick-tick-tick.
