I was replacing my lower ball joint according to the How-To with one exception. The Ball Joint remover sheared through the old ball joint leaving the outer ring still attached. The ball joint is out and I will post pictures in a second, but does anybody have any idea how to fix this? I need my truck for work tomorrow.

Exactly. Just pound it through from the top. I didn't even use a tool on mine about 20 minutes ago- just pulled the zerk and pounded it through the arm. 4 lbs. sledge worked fine- 7 shots and it was on the floor. :)

I will try that, I am just beat after lifting Friday and fighting bolts they fighting the UCA bolts yesterday and now fighting this. It feels like a never ending battle.

Is the snap ring removed? (Blind me)
If real stubborn, heat around the hole.

Yes I removed the snap ring, sorry if it isn't visible. I do not have access to a torch to heat it. If necessary I will try to get my hands on one.

It doesn't take that much power to pound them out with a small sledge.

Also don't see any tool marks around the ball joint on the bottom. (Third pic)
You do know the cup has be around/over the ball joint from underneath?

But yes, agree a BFH without heat should solve your issue real fast.

Crisis averted, I went and bought a 4lb hammer from Lowe's and the guy even told me to bring it back if I wanted to. But I prefer to keep it for future use.

Thank you everyone for helping me, I really appreciate it and hope that I can someday return the favor. I kept the piece of the bearing so that I have a souvenir.

The set Advance gave me had 3 sizes. I used the middle one that resembled what MountaineerGreen used on his. I tried the largest momentarily but it never really aligned properly. Perhaps next time I should use the largest? I did buy Moog so hopefully I can keep greasing it up and just have to replace the passengers side next.

Well done, BA. I should have added that my sledge was also from Lowe's.

I own an Explorer, so I'm keeping it as well... :D

If you leave a little pool of PB Blaster down in the groove overnight it pops right out with a 2 pd ball peen hammer..

Yeah, but you need a 4 lbs. sledge if you own an Explorer in Michigan anyhow... :D

I've also given up on PB Blaster after doing the Acetone/ATF mix- holy crap what a difference!

Do you mix acetone and tranny fluid and brush it on?

50-50 mix. Brush or spray bottle. If you use a spray bottle, have a nozzle made for chemicals... I use a fair amount of it when applying...
