i just had both lower balljoints replaced with less than 60,000 miles is this normal or is it the quality of the roads that caused it or poor quality parts

Thats pretty normal since Ford didn't put zerk fittings on the lower ball joints.. Hopefully you bought a set with zerk fitting like the brand Moog has..

OEM
it was under warranty but then again oem is probably all that is available here

one of my lower ball joints on my truck were shot when i bought it with 57k on it

Has anyone tried drilling and tapping the stock joints for zerks?

the only thing i've heard of is getting needle and injecting some grease into the stock ball joints...never actually tried it

I just had my lowers replaced today. If I had an alignment when they were good I shouldnt need another one now, right? The geometry of the front suspension only changes when you mess with the uppers, right?

mine are bad, been driving on them all winter after they said there was a little play. i have a loud thump when going over bumps at low speeds, especialy while turning. like going out of my driveway. ill replace them as soon as it warms up. about 47K on the odo right now.

its pretty ordinary my previous 4x4 isuzu had 165,000m
on it and the only steering/suspension parts changed
were shocks & rear swaybar bushes
the balljoints must be a ford problem because on locally built fords 40,000m seems to be the limit

Injecting greese is common. I dont totaly understand it though. All you are doing is leaving a place for the greese to get back out. I even own a tool to inject the greese but if you pulled it out of my box you would notice its totaly clean. Like never used clean

Well you're supposed to seal up the pinhole with silicone. If you don't, air and moisture could get in the balljoint and wear it out quicker. You want to keep the boots in good condition so the balljoint lasts.
