OK, I know that with the ooM12, the lower intake manifold o-rings were an issue. I *thought* my replacement motor in '00 came with both the revised tensioners and the revised o-rings, but now I'm not so sure....
On the first and only the first cold-start after a 6 hour soak (8-hours in the parking lot at work, or parked outside overnight) and the temp stays below 40 degrees, I get a rolling idle. It surges up to about 15-1600, then slowly falls back down to about 400 where it sputters, bucks, and hesitates, then it acts as though someone tapped the gas pedal, jumps up and rolls back down again. It does this rolling idle 4-6 times, then flattens out and purrs like a kitten until the next cold-soak. If I turn the key off while it's rolling and start it back up, the problem does not happen again. Subsequent restarts after the first one result in a perfect idle.
When the problem first surfaced, I replaced the IAC. That did not fix the problem. I was thinking that it was a sensor being out of whack, but have no easy way to check it. That all got me thinking about the lower intake manifold leak issue.... Sooooo.....
Could bad lower intake manifold o-rings cause the issue I'm having? If the o-rings were bad, wouldn't the problem occur all the time? Why only on a cold start after being VERY cold for an extended period of time?
I'm just trying to rul out the lower intake for my own peace of mind... I'm really still clueless on the issue...
