Hi,

My dad's 93 has a new problem. The left rear power window has stopped working IN THE DOWN POSITION and the temp is -10 C today!

Before I tear into the door etc, is there anything I should know that commonly causes this ? It happened suddenly with no indications before hand so I think its electrical. All the other door's windows are working A OK still.

I notice in my Haynes manual that they show a fuse integral with the motor unit, does this sometimes pop on these units?

Although its an old truck, it is in great shape and only has 134,000 kM on it, everything else is in good working order.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Brian H.

can you hear the motor turning when you press the switch?

Hey.. I can field this one... Try this first before you start tearing the door apart.

1. Open the door and get in, leave door open

2. Hold the button in the up or down position ( depending on how its stuck and which way you want it to go)

3. Slam the door while holding button down

Really! Go try it... I BET IT WORKS!

Dont ask me, its a long story, but it works.

i had the same prob in the cold temp, on mine the cable snapped

Have you tried it from both (master panel and door) switches?

Yeah try both switches. If not try to bang it while holding the switch up. If it still doesn't work, pull off the panel and see if everything is connected properly and check for loose connections. I had the same problem with my passnger door on my full size bronco and it was just loose connections. Good luck

problem solved, for now

Well the next day was warmer and I parked the car in my unheated garage over night. To my delight and surprise, the window went up as normal when I pressed the button. Its up and staying up till spring now.

Thanks all for the great, and creative, suggestions. I know what to try if it happens again.

Best regards,

Brian H.
