It should take GL5 gear oil.

mrboyle is correct. GL-5 gear oil is the correct lubricant.

AgExplorer,
I am planning on changing all my fluids (tranny, front/rear axle and transfercase) over to Amsoil synthetics. I need to know which Amsoil product is the GL-5 lube. I saw the GL-4, but the rest were just like 80W90 and stuff. Thank you very much for your help!

Travis,

Go with the Series 2000 75W-90 (Item # TGR). It will last the life of your Explorer unless it gets contaminated with water, etc.

Shoot me an e-mail and I'll get everything you need at my cost.
