My CB/scanner rocked up today, the aerial will probably be late next week. Just a few pic's of the unit with a remote head, which should fit perfectly below my heater controls...should. I'm still trying to work out where I'm going to get my power from. Whether to go directly to the battery (like I should), cigarette lighter adapter or run off a fuse thats hooked up to the ignition. I'll try to do abit of a write up on the install for the CB section.

First stage of installing the head unit face plate and mike. I'm going to run the power off a ciggy lighter, seeing as I have three I may as well make use of them. The first time I forget it's on and discharge me battery I'm re-routing to the fuse box. This seemed the easiest(LAZY BUGGER)option and if I have to take a different path later I haven't burnt any bridges. 3m double sided tape hold the face plate on and two small screws attach the mike holder.

how does that remote thingamajiger work? never seen a CB like that before of course Ive only seen a few.

The main unit sits under the dash or under the seat, any where out of the way. Then the remote head can go where you can fit it attached with either a mounting bracket or good double sided tape. The remote heads hooked up to the main unit by a cord that looks abit like phone line. Another option for limited space is the cobra 75/76 cb, all the controls and display are on the mike.

Nice Explorer,.... You have some nice scenery to look at. Better than what look at out my back door.

Cheers Brian, I never had much joy in the city. I think the bush keeps me sane, altho' many would dispute my definition of sane.:D:thumbsup:

Mate you'll have to take a number and join the queue.

I thought maybe they are in line to buy the 2011 Explorer!?

Until they realize there's no low range.:D

nice truck mate, must be said, I do prefer driving the RHD Explorers to the LHD ones... pity we never got the 3rd gen, but I'm happy with the one I've got anyway...

keep it up!

Cheers Si:chug: I've never driven a lefty and it would definitely take some getting used to:roll: On the odd occasion I have to drive another vehicle I always end up turning on the windscreen wipers for the first couple of corners until I start to remember the indicator's on the other side of the steering wheel. Feel like a bloody dill and I'm always waiting for copper's to pull me over for a breath test. Have a good 'n' mate.

One pic of how it'll look all mounted and tidied up. The aerial rock's up soon and thanks to Ronin8002's excellent write up in the CB section I have a fair idea of how I'm going to mount it near the right tail light, then it's just a matter of finding a home for the external speaker which shouldn't be too difficult considering its only 3"h x 3"w x 1 1/2"d.

I have my external speaker on the "B" pillar right at shoulder height. Ran the wire behind the pillar cover, under the carpet to the console, than to the CB itself.

Clear as rain, and out of the way.

Sweet Gregg, cheers for that mate. As you can see I'm trying to stay productive 2 days into my 'prohibition' phase and that sounds like the perfect pozzy for the speaker. Mucho Gracias.

I like where you put your CB at.

Is your 11226 muffler getting quieter? I was out driving today and I was thinking what happened to my muffler?! Still has a nice loud rumble at 500-2300 RPM, above that its getting quiet.
