Need some help. Just installed Mac intake on 98 V6 SOHC. All is fine but when the idle drops when at idle there is a howling noise that seems to be coming from the maf. Tried using the old gasket and checked all clamps and connections but still howls at idle.

Also is it necessary for the hose from the valve cover to be connected to the chrome tube between the air filter and the TB? Thinking of putting a gromet on the chrome tube openning and a little filter on the hose to the valve cover. Isn't it just pumping hot air into the TB from the valve cover?

Thanks.

the howeling sounds to me like your IAC.
Do a search and that will get the ball rolling.

The hose from the valve cover is for crank case ventalation. You dont want to plug that. I put an A/M filter on mine.

Mine is hooked up to the chrome tube. I had to dremel the hole a little bit bigger and heat the rubber gromet in hot water, then popped it in. Done.

Those breathers are like they used a long time ago, but if they inspect where you live it won't pass. That happened to my brother last year.
