I have a 94 xlt and about a year ago I went on a trip. I was driving 75 mph on the interstate and the check engine light came on. Then I had to mash down on the gas pedal to maintain speed. Then it would idle rough. Fuel economy went out the window and I arrived at my destination. I took it to a ford dealership there and had them look at it. They read the codes and said it was my MAF. I decided to buy one on my way home and install it myself. I did. I drove it around town for a few months with no problems. I then went on another trip same problem came back. Had a dealer look at it again and he told me it was the MAF. I explained to him that I had just replaced it and it should still be under warranty. He replaced the MAF and I got my money back for the old one. The new MAF did not fix my problem so the dealer told replaced my fuel pump (code was still saying it was my MAF) told me to try this out and see if it fixed it. I drove about 600 miles with no problems. ( it was cold at this time of year) Now last week I go on a trip and the same dang thing is happening. I know the engine code will say it's the MAF but it can't be the problem because I've replaced it so many times. Can someone PLEASE help me.

Maybe your FPR is sticking? Only way to tell is to run fuel pressure test when the truck is running bad. Or you could just replace it :D I think it's about 40 bucks or so.

would an FPR sticking cause a MAF code to be generated?

Fuel pressure regulator are 76 at autozone and when it starts to go bad it can cause all kinds of problems:(

Id check to see if your airfilter is getting restricted . The silencer might have broken loose and be sucking into the airbox or something . The rubber hose itself from the MAF to the engine intake inlet could be sucking shut too . Id say a loss of air could cause a MAF code since it wouldnt be viewing the air coming across it . Only other thing would be in the wiring or PCM itself . Id chase after a air restriction first though .
