Magna flow mufflers

i was thinking of gettin new exhaust, since my flowmaster is starting to rust, i want to a magnaflow, but can they be as loud or deep as my flowmaster 40?

My Magnaflow has a little resonance between 1500-1700 rpm, which I do not like at all. It is now 5 years old and is just about as loud as a Flow 40. Early in it's career, it was a quieter, mellower sound than a Flow40. To me, the Flow 40 is a little to throaty.

I really don't like the resonance, but I'm not sure if that's something specific to my install or what. I have a 2.5" pipe from the cat back, with the stock resonator removed.
