I'm going to do a trans pan drop and filter in a few days and am also going to put an inline Magnefine filter on the cool return to the trans. For those of you who have installed one, where did you place it? I know I'll have to break a hardline to fit it in somewhere, but where is recommended? On the line vertical line adjacent to the radiator? Underneath on the horizontal line? Where did you put the thing?? If you got a pic on that, even better!
Thanks.

What about a spin on filter with a remote fitting kit?
Use the same part number filter as used on the engine oil.

The Magnefine has already been shipped already. I think I'll just go ahead with the install. Any rec's on where to put it?

I had considered installing a Magnefine on the top
radiator line in front of the A/C compressor. That's
the most accessable placement, and would make
changing it very easy.

I'd also considered a spin-on filter kit, but haven't
done either one yet...

I'd lie down under the X and look for a spot.
It's not "mounted" it just goes inline doesn't it?

Yeah, it goes inline on the cool return to the trans. I just don't want to cut a hard line if I don't have to.

Why not the hot side?
I would have thought with the fluid being hotter and thinner the filter would be less of an obstruction.

Cut the rubber line and use those fancy clips that grip well and don't cut into the rubber, use 2.

swshawaii will know what they're called, he has an eidetic memory.

The instructionals I've seen all say to install it on the cool return. As soon as I get it (in transit) I'll check it out. Yes, I think if I can find a hose location to place it I'll do that. Honestly, I have not yet crawled under the Ex to take a good look yet. The hose clamps are the spring compress type, not the screw type hose clamps that tend to cut into the hose.

I may be a little late to the party on this for the OP, but here's where I put my inline filter:

I had to take the grill off to put it next to the aux cooler but that's only two screws and two clips. The way I have it - it's downstream of the radiator cooler and upstream of the aux cooler. It would have been better to put it downstream of both coolers but it fit better this way.

(Standing in front of the truck looking down - by the hood latch.)

(OOPS - I just noticed that I posted in the wrong forum - I've got a 1993 Exp.)
