Hi all, i have a few questions.
My mountaineer when its cold will rev up then idle down and lope really hard and sometimes die. It will not hold a steady idle, but once it warms up it only fluctuates around 100-200 rpm, but still drives me crazy. I cleaned the valve on top of the intake, and nothing changed. I am thinking maybe intake gaskets? i do not think its head gaskets because it does not white smoke, and still has a lot of power. Its not showing a check engine light. What should i do first before i spend money on the wrong thing?
Also, i see these "performance" chips on ebay claming upwards of 50hp gains with a simple plug n play, are these real, or should i stay away from them?
Can anyone point out a larger throttle body for the 4.0 soc (2000 yr model) and what cold air intake would work, i was looking on ebay under explorers, and i didnt know if a sport trac was the same under the hood?
Thanks for reading!
