Alright I finally got my linkages from Ford after a 3.5 month wait so I can now complete my manual tcase swap. One question though... How do I remove the leaver piece from the Tcase itself. The part that is connects the tcase to the bushing on the end of the fork (without this leaver on the case, I can use a 10mm open end to shift gears). I pulled the bushing and shift knob off a ranger today at the bone yard but I couldn't seem to get that leaver off.

Does it simply screw off, or pull off wih some force. I tried to pry it off and it was a no-go.

Thanks
Chris

Chris,

On the drawing I have the lever is held on with a nut, and then it looks like the lever is pressed onto a shaft that exits from the case. Try some PB blaster on it, and if you are just after the lever I would take a socket that fits over the threaded shaft and give it a shot with a hammer to try and loosen the fit. Pry it off with a hammer, or something that can put pressure on two sides of the shaft.
BTW the shaft looks to be a round shaft until it exits the case then the section becomes a slender rectangle that runs front to rear, if its in a yard you may not be able to see the pieces and how they fit due to rust etc. PB blaster and some shocks to get it into the joints.

If you cant get it off that way, and if the case is seperate from the trans, there are two set screws and a clip that hold the whole lever and shaft in - you could remove them and slide out the whole assembly- get a new o-ring for reinstallation. One set screw is in the case and the other is on the shift cam.

Hope you can understand this, good luck.

That might be the problem, becuase there definitl wasn;t a bolt holding on the other leaver. I looked at the pic closer and saw what you were talking about so what i might do is get a piece of scrap metal and cut a square hold that fits the nut looking thing on the case and but a bolt and washer to hold it on.

Thanks
Chris
