I have a '93 Ford Explorer Sport 2wd with a 4.0 eng.Iwas wondering what all is involved with the swap especially the ECM,driveshaft, crossmember, and which automatic would work best. Thanks in advance for any help.

I think most people would rather do the swap from auto to manual, mainly because the A4LD (stock trans for a 93) is not known for being particularly robust. Are you sure that you want to swap? You may be able to find another manual from an Explorer or Ranger to replace yours for less $$$.

you need:

3 position clutch switch bypass
clutch master cylinder block off plate
automatic computer
automatic tranmission wiring harness
4.0L flex plate, spacer and bolts
radiator with auto trans cooler built in
aux trans cooler
trans cooler lines
column or floor shifter

to get started

the trans mount is the same 5 speed to auto

as said most people would not convert to the A4LD auto

your other auto choices would be a C5/4 automatic or the 700R4 conversion, try searching this forum for those

Thanks for the replies,The previous owners have destroyed the whole clutch assembly, there are parts missing, broken and lost. That's why I was considering a swap but after reading what's involved I guess I'll have to climb under it and start piecing it back together.thanks again for the info.
