Hi,
Recently i tore apart an electronic transfercase. Has anyone tried tp shift this using pliers? That shaft has no "detents" or spots provide guidence on where to turn the shaft to get 2wd, 4wd or 4low. It seems very picky about exactly where the shaft needs to be to get each position, and doesn't want to stay there. I've read in the past that someone's shift motor went out, so they removed it and shifted it with pliers. Any clue? How would it stay in the position?

Its actually really easy, at least on the Bw 1350 and 1354 it is...

Take the actuator off (shift motor) and you will have a little arrow shaped stud sticking out. Use pliers to point it toward the approp spot, 2wd, 4H or 4L, thats all there is to it.....I dont remember if there is a N on these T cases...

Shouldnt be hard to turn.
I went 4x4ing a few years back and te shift motor cut out on me whenI got there, so I pulled it off, put the truck in 4 low with robo grips, wheeled all weekend, then swapped it back to 2wd and drove home. No problems.

When I got home I rebuilt my shift motor (cleaned) and its still on there working like new.......

On my 4405 ('97 V6) I was able to shift it into 4LO by hand when taking off my shift motor to diagnose why I wasn't getting 4-LO. Still haven't determined the problem so I don't know if it's just the shiftmotor not moving or the T-Case.
