manuel 93 explorer stuck in gear

i just replaced the clutch on my explorer,i just got the transmission back up in it and everything looks good but it is now stuck in third gear and will not come out.any ideas

Did you leave it in third gear when you put the tranny back in or it was in neutral and then you put it in third after reinstalling and it stuck?

It usually doesn't make a difference, but usually it's best to keep it in neutral the whole timeuntil you've got the master/slave all bled and everything is ready to go.

You might be able to bleed the hydraulic system then have it work well enough to disengage the clutch and free the shifter back to neutral.

I'm betting you probably moved the shift rail when you were putting the shifter back on or at some point during the R&R process. Take the shifter back off and then take a decent sized flat head screwdriver and make sure all 3 of the notches on the shift rails line up, then put the shifter back on.

Before you bolt the shifter back on, check and make sure that you can freely change gears - if it's still stuck in third, double check the shift rails. If it still doesn't move, then you made a big boo-boo.
